Your leadership capacity is determined by your ability to manage your personal energy and that of your team. What does that have to do with you, you wonder? To date, in my experience, this remains the most astute view of leadership focusing, if you will, on the blackness and whiteness of leadership rather than one or the other. The property is a given set of skills, qualities, and characteristics attributed to people perceived as being able to successful employ said influence and power. The process uses non-coercive influence and power to coordinate the activities of an organized group towards the accomplishment of specific goals. In his seminal work, Handbook of Leadership (circa 1974), Roger Stogdill presented leadership as both a property and a process. ![]() We can argue about what color zebras are all day here's what's not changing about them: they're both black and white. Working with clients world over, I'm finding that folks care less about the definition of leadership and more about its manifestation. Leadership.that elusive word that has, to date, elicited over 500 formal definitions. ![]()
